New Delhi: World number 20 Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain went through to the quarter-finals beating Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia at the Championships on Tuesday.
Ferrero did not have to work hard against Tipsarevic. He fired in 37 winners to beat his opponent in straight sets 7-5, 6-3, 7-6.
With the win, Ferrero enters the quarter-final round at Wimbledon for the first time and will meet defending champion Roger Federer.
Wimbledon champion in 2002 and the only other former champion in the draw other than Federer, 16th seed Llyeton Hewitt of Australia has also made his way through to the last 16.
Hewitt overcame the challenge of Guillermo Canas of Argentina, the 22nd seed in four sets. The first two sets were split between the two before Hewitt took control of the match, winning it 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
