Paris: Lotus Renault has selected Malaysia's Fairuz Fauzy as a reserve driver for the 2011 Formula One season. The 28-year-old Fauzy has a wide-ranging experience in motor sport, including F1 mileage gained during practice sessions last year.
Fauzy said on Tuesday "it's a real honor to be part of a top team that has achieved so much in the sport and it's something any driver dreams about."
He sees it as "a great opportunity for me to improve as a driver" and hopes that "one day I can be on the grid myself."
Fauzy has also raced in the GP2 Series, A1GP, and the World Series by Renault, where he was runner-up in 2009. Along with his F1 duties this year, Fairuz will return to GP2 racing with Super Nova Racing.
