New Delhi: Excise department recovered over 700 bottles of imported liquor from a school in Gurgaon on Thursday.
Preliminary investigations suggest people associated with the school management were engaged in liquor import business and were using a room in the school building to store liquor post expiry date.
Excise department has imposed a fine of Rs 3 lakh on the school but haven’t registered any criminal case. Officials say a police case will be filed only if the school fails to cough up the fine.
Under the Haryana Liquor Licence Rules, it is illegal to sell liquor in the immediate vicinity of a school.
A case has been registered under the excise act. The Gurgaon administration has also approached the CBSE and called for immediate action against the school.
