New Delhi: Singer Kylie Minogue bags the highest Glamour award title, while Oscar winner Kate Winslet opts for the bare-look on the red carpet and Conan O'Brien makes his audience sit up and take notice on his debut as the new host of The Tonight Show.
CONAN IN LENO'S SHOES
The Tonight Show's brand new host Conan O'Brien gave his predecessor Jay Leno a run for his money on Monday night on his debut and quite literally so. Brien's brand of tongue-in-cheek humour and a certain palpable energy gave the show it's best Monday over night ratings in four years.
KATE AND MENDES - AWAY WE GO
Kate Winslet sported the 'au naturel' look as opposed to the heavily made-look at previous red carpet dos for the premiere of husband Sam Mendes' film Away We Go in New York on Monday night. Dressed in a Stella McCartney black number the Oscar winning actress looked younger than her 33 years.
Her Revolutionary Road director-husband Sam Mendes has shifted focus to working with lesser known TV stars like Saturday Night Live alumni Maya Rudolph and John Krasinski of The Office fame in Away We Go.
"It's been a wonderful experience to not have the commercial pressure of making a big movie where you have to cast big names when you can fine-tune two actors who perfectly match the roles and let the movie speak for itself," Mendes said.
Away We Go is a comedy which revolves around a couple - Burt and Verona - who are about to be parents but have second thoughts about how to raise a child while they try to zero in on the best place to do so. Varying opinions from their friends only worsen the situation for the couple. The film hits American theatres on June 25.
GLAMOUR MAGAZINE WOMAN OF THE YEAR AWARDS
Tuesday night saw woman achievers being honoured by Glamour magazine in London. Bagging Woman of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year award was 41-year-old Aussie pop-diva Kylie Minogue, who made heads turn in her black mini dress.
Singer Cheryl Cole was announced TV Personality of the Year and I Kissed A Girl crooner Katy Perry was named Newcomer of the Year. In her strapless blue satin gown, Katy looked chic with red stilletoes upping the glam quotient.
And rounding off the awards tally was Mamma Mia! star Amanda Seyfried who was named Film Actress of the Year.
In its sixth year the awards night is held annually to recognise the achievements of women in film, TV, music, theatre, business and literature.
