There is more than one way of expressing emotions. Art is one such media. Some sing, some dance and some paint. Paintings of a few artists who believe in expressing their emotions through canvas have come together to display their art works at the Daira Art Gallery in Taj Deccan. The curator of this gallery and also an artist, Jaya Baheti has been in this field for two decades now, has invited six of her artist friends to display their works at the gallery. The exhibition is on from September 14 till the 20. The paintings at the gallery include the ones of Ajay Deshpande on a story teller, who is narrating the story and playing the flute, Buwa Shete, also from Pune, is reckoned for his mother and child series of paintings, Pandurang Tathe, whose paintings recall in the spectators mind the biblical images of Christ and other saints, Ramchandra Kharatmal, and the tale of a happy tribal, Sanjay Ashtaputre from the city whose paintings show a strong use of line and form to depict the sensuous and feminine side of women, Shubha Gokhale from Mumbai who potrayed the ‘samvad’ emotions, the relationship of a couple and Jaya Baheti who displayed the spirit of life through characters of mother and child. Common factors in these artists are emotions, colour pallete, feelings and expressions.Jaya Baheti who curated the show said, “Language of emotions is about artistic synergy and thematic synchrony.” She also said, “To exhibit various stylisations of figure and form, I invited six of my friends to display the ethos of a very lyrical contemporary Indian style of painting.”
