New Delhi: Railways have announced a special train to Rajasthan from Monday onwards to help the passengers stranded due to the Gurjar protests in the state.
Cancellation of trains, following the violence in Rajasthan, has left several passengers returning to Gujarat stranded. The worst affected seems to be Haridwar town, where several thousands of Gujaratis are waiting for train services to resume.
The decision to operate a special service comes in the wake of a number of passengers being stranded at the railway stations here due to cancellations of trains to Rajasthan.
The special train will depart from the Old Delhi railway station at 0700 hours IST and will run via Rewari-Bandikui route, Northern Railway officials said after a late night meeting on Sunday.
The train will have stoppages at all stations where the Jaisalmer Express stops, they said.
A Special Train will leave Jodhpur for Delhi at 0045 hours Monday while the Delhi-Ajmer Shatabdi service for the same day has been cancelled, they added.
Railways is also planning to run more special trains to the Pink City depending upon the rush and clearance of route, they said.
Queues for refunds at the Ahmedabad railway station continued to increase as the platforms wore a deserted look.
