Organised by Vasathi Housing Limited  as a part of their pre-Independence Day Celebrations, the kids were gathered for a special movie screening of the latest Tollywood hit, Eega.Children from various city-based NGOs, including the Ankuram Society, The Secunderabad Don Bosco Navajeevan Society, Auxilium Navajeevana, Lions Club Hyderabad, Sadhana Institute of Mentally Challenged and Kamalamma Welfare Organisation, among others.  Bricks-To-BooksPost the movie screening, “Bricks-To-Books”, a unique programme, an intitiative by Vasathi and in association with Ankuram Society was launched. Extending to over 200 children currently, the programme aims at providing basic literary classes, day care for toddlers and nourishing meals to the children of construction labourers at the construction sites belonging to Vasathi. “This was an initiative, only aimed at bringing smiles on the faces of these innocent kids.Role of the societyEmphasising on the need for more of such initiatives, Sunitha Laxma Reddy, minister for Indira Kranthi Patham, Pension, Women and Child Welfare, Disabled Welfare and Juvenile the chief guest on the occasion said, “We need more corporates to come forward and adopt Anganwadi centres. The government will always need the society’s support to go ahead with an initiative.” Adding further, she explains, “We have made the Licensing Act compulsory, which includes registration of all the NGOs.
