An Education department clerk was on Wednesday caught red-handed by Lokayukta Police taking a bribe of Rs 24,500 from a Madarsa manager.
Acting on a tip-off, the clerk identified as Sudhir Sharma was caught accepting the sum as bribe from Madarsa manager Nawaz Khan for releasing grant to the minority institution.
The raid was conducted by a team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) D S Parihar when the clerk was taking the money in his chamber in the District Education Office, the Lokayukta sources said.
A case under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against him in this regard.
