The first bench of the Madras High Court has directed the Chennai Corporation Commissioner and KK Nagar Executive Engineer to file affidavits stating as to why, despite many representations the from Springfield Matriculation and Higher Secondary School, KK Nagar, the construction of a temple and a wall across the school gate had not been stopped.
The KK Nagar police inspector should also file a separate affidavit stating as to why he had not taken any action against preventing some persons from closing the gate of the school and raising the temple, when there was a specific direction from the Supreme Court that no temple or religious structure be built on the roads, the bench said.
Adjourning the matter till August 6, the bench directed the inspector to post sufficient number of cops in the place in question to prevent any further mischief that might be committed by those unknown persons.
