DINDIGUL: Even as the Union and State governments are grappling with the issue of Sukma Collector Alex Paul Menon’s abduction by Maoists, staff and students of the Ratna Vel Subramaniam (RVS) College of Engineering here are praying for the release of their alumnus. Alex Paul Menon graduated in B.E. Electronics and Communication from the college in 2002. On Monday, the students organised a prayer. The prayer was attended by A Mohamed Basha, Chief Executive Officer of the college, P G Ravichandran, the Principal, and other faculty members and students.Basha said, “Paul was a good student and quite popular. We honoured him when he was selected for IAS. The news of his abduction has come as a shock. We have written to the President, the PM and the CM requesting them to expedite efforts to release Paul from the custody of Maoists,” he added.  Students of RVS educational institutions across the State had decided to observe a fast on Tuesday and pray for his release, he added.
