Actor Dia Mirza, the brand ambassador for the brand was in the city to launch the special range of products. Besides promoting the brand and its products, the actor also gave away stuffed toys and other goodies to children from ‘Akhanda Seva for International Shanti’, an NGO that works for spreading goodwill and hope in the lives of exploited destitute children. The kids had come all the way from Mysore to be part of the event. Also present were slum children from the city’s Nagavar Palya Region.“I adore the Body Shop on two levels, my skin and my soul. This is why the products are my favorite giveaways no matter what the occasion!” said the actor. Elaborating she expressed that what is wonderful and unique about the brand’s products is the sense of community and pride it gives. “When you buy the products, you immediately become a part of something big, whether it is joining the fight against HIV/AIDS, spreading environmental awareness or helping a communities by participating in fair trade practices. It is all these wonderful attributes that make it my favorite brand and the ultimate gifting destination!” she revealed. It was Dame Anita Roddick, the founder of the brand, dream to establish a company that not just made great products, but was also socially and environmentally responsible.When quizzed about her decision to lend her persona to the brand, Mirza was quick to justify that her love for the brand was not something new. “Back in the day, when I used to model, I would always stop to pick up something from the store whenever I passed by it,” she informed. “I love all the products, from make-up to hand sanitisers to shower gels and creams. However, I am very partial towards the White Lavender perfume. It is my favourite day-wear perfume,” expressed the actor.On the work front Mirza did speak of her films and coming ventures. “I am going through scripts right now. However nothing can be made official until early next year. Meanwhile I feel I am ready to explore the regional film industry. I have just finished work on a Bengali film that explores the nuances of relationships. I would also like to venture down South and would love to work with veteran actors like Nagarjuna and Venkatesh. I have grown-up watching their films, ” she revealed. She also mentioned that sometime in the future if all goes well, she would love to get behind the camera instead of just in front of it.
