THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Dhanak, the much-hyped cultural fiesta of the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology here, is all set to storm the student population in the city as well as those from outside. The annual cultural fest, which will start on Friday and go on till October 3, will be held on the institute’s own campus at Valiyamala for the first time. Dhanak is all set to stick with the tradition of giving the audience a taste of the contemporary Hindi rock music scene. Last year, the `Faridkot’ band, ranked at the top in Radio Mirchi’s Pop Top 10 list, had throbbed the fest. This year, KAASH, a Delhi-based group will perform here. Performances by many bands both from within and outside the state can by witnessed in the `Lord of Strings’ event on October 1. More than ten bands have already registered for the event. The instrumental music competition is expected to have much much in store for the audience. Dhanak’s website www.dhanak.co.in, with its new pacman interface, has become notable with large number of hits every day. Renowned singer Dr K J Yesudas will inaugurate the event in the campus on September 30 at 5 pm. Soorya Krishnamoorthy will be the guest of honour, in the presence of IIST director Dr K S Dasgupta.
