New Delhi: The Devaswom Vigilance has submitted its report, refuting allegations that women, in the age group of 10-50 years, had entered the Sabarimala Temple in Kerala.
Some photographs of women devotees praying in a temple were published online recently, stating they were captured at Sabarimala.
However, the vigilance report concluded the women had submitted their age proof, showing they were above 50 years.
Devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran had ordered an enquiry into these allegations. At present, women in the age group of 10 to 50 are not permitted to enter the Sabarimala temple. A case is pending before the supreme Court in this regard.
The report also said that an industrialist, Sun Kumar, based in Kollam, was enjoying undue preference at the temple, and has been illegally staying at the Devaswom guard room.
Actor Jayarajan had also played the idakka ( a drum) at the temple. As part of the ritual, there is a designated person to play the drum. The report also recommended departmental action against the administrative officer M S Yatheendranath and executive officer of Sabarimala R Ravishankar.
