A senior official of the Civil Aviation Ministry who was looking after modernisation of several airports has resigned.

New Delhi: Sanjay Narayen, a senior official of the Civil Aviation Ministry looking after the modernisation of several airports in the country, resigned on Tuesday.

Narayen, a 1976 batch IAS batch officer of Maharashtra cadre, however, did not give any reason why he was quitting service. Sources, however, said Narain resigned after being overlooked for promotion.

Sources close to him scotched speculations about him joining any airline or aviation related business.

He had earlier worked in the Human Resources Ministry, Culture, and joined Civil Aviation Ministry in 2005 as Joint Secretary.
