Raipur: Ahead of their must-win encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday, Delhi Daredevils assistant coach Praveen Amre on Thursday emphasised that the team needs to improve their batting.
"That's the area (batting) we want to improve in tomorrow's game specially (against Sunrisers). We know that once we batted well. We did well against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in which Quinton De Kock scored 100 chasing 191. I think that was our best performance," Amre told reporters at the pre-match conference.
"Coming to just tomorrow's game, we also have got very good memories of playing here. We are looking forward to get home ground advantage. We are hopeful and we know home support will be very vital which we want for tomorrow's game," the 47-year-old player added.
Amre said the Zaheer Khan-led side played good (cricket) in the last game (against Sunrisers).
"We did good at their home-ground (in Hyderabad). We both batted and bowled well. We hope we can repeat that performance. This is for the first in IPL that the points table is such like anybody can qualify. Every game is crucial.
The important thing is that we stay focused and we stay positive", he added.
"Out of 12, we have won 6 matches so far in this season. Our performance has been 50 per cent good this year.
Finishing is more important than starting well," he added.
Asked about Mumbai batsman Shreyas Iyer's failure to deliver in this IPL, he said, "As we all know he is the one who came last year as an emerging player. It's like still learning for him. He is looking for that one good innings which is not happening with him this season...but he definitely goes back and learns."
