Bhandari, who is alleged to have links with Congress President Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra, is also reportedly close to BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh. Congress leader Shahzad Poonawala alleged that Singh was close to Bhandari.

A probe by the Income Tax department into the transactions of Bhandari has allegedly shown that he was close to Vadra and even lived in his flat in London.

Bhandari is reported to have received a sum of 34 crore from arms manufacturer Pilatus in 2010.
