Berhampore: Three persons were killed and several injured when a clash broke out between two groups over change in the lunch break timings at a village school in Murshidabad district on Friday leading to imposition of

curfew in the area.

A 20-hour curfew in Jhaubana village under Naoda police station area from 4 pm after three persons died and many were injured in the clashes, SP B L Meena said.

Several houses were ransacked, looted and torched during the clash with trouble spreading to nearby areas, District Magistrate Pervez Ahmed Siddiqui said.

Official sources said the clash took place over the timings of lunch break at the school which was a bone of contention between two groups.

A decision on withdrawal or extension of curfew would be taken on Saturday after a review of the situation, said Meena, who was camping at Naoda where BSF was staging flag-marches.
