NALGONDA: A couple was burnt alive by his brother-in-law at Ramapuram village in Mellacheruvu mandal on Monday night. According to CI Srinivas Naidu, Nagalakshmi and Mallishwar Rao, a newly-wed couple from Dondapadu village of Kodad mandal came to their brother-in-law Tirupathi's house at Ramapuram for Muthyalamma Jathara. On Monday night, when Mallishwar Rao and his wife were asleep, Tirupathi poured petrol on the couple, suspecting that Rao had an illicit relation with his wife, Kala, and set them on fire. Nagalakshmi (20) died instantly and Mallishwar Rao, who suffered severe burns was shifted to a hospital in Hyderabad. Tirupathi, however, fled from the scene. Mellacheruvu police have registered a case and are investigating.10 Injured in Group ClashesTen persons were injured in clahes between two groups belonging to Congress and Telugu Desam party in Kistapuram village of Mellacheruvu mandal on Tuesday. According to police, the two groups had differences over land allotment to people displaced due to construction of Pulichinthala project and attacked each other with bombs. About 10 of them were injured in the incident.
