BANGALORE: A 45 year old man and his lover were arrested for cheating and threatening the former's tenants. The arrested have been identified as Mahadevappa and Sumithramma (40) residents of K R Layout.
According to the police, Mahadevappa used to rent houses and lease them to others at the rate Rs 2.5 lakhs to Rs 5 lakh. At the time of the lease agreement, Sumithramma claimed to be Mahadevappa's wife and the owner of the house. The lease agreement were made between Sumithramma and the lessee, police said.After four months, Mahadevappa questioned the tenants' identity and said he was not aware of any Sumithramma. Also, he threatened the tenants to vacate the house immediately. When the tenants refused to vacate, Mahadevappa produced eviction orders from the court claiming he was the legal owner. The couple have so far cheated ten families to the tune of Rs 25 to 30 lakh, police added.

Allegedly, Sumithramma is married to one Janardhan and has deserted him. Mahadevappa and Sumithramma stay at K R Layout and cheat people since two years. Recently, the present tenant Shivakumar refused to vacate the house, when Mahadevappa and Sumithramma tried to trap him.
