Compensate kin of prison death victim

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has directed the Tamil Nadu government to pay a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the family of Amulbabu, who died in Cuddalore Central Prison in August 2009.Justice Hari Paranthaman gave the direction on Wednesday on a petition filed by the deceased’s father Palani, a resident of Pulianthope, Chennai.Based on the submission, the court ordered the compensation to Palani and asked the State government to hand over the compensation amount to him within eight weeks.
