Understanding of godI sense god in every microscopic moment in my life. The understanding stems from the way my mom and dad love me. There on, I continue to see and feel his hand on every possible thing I connect with. I definitely think that being humble and simple are the easy ways to understand himSpiritual beliefI believe in Destiny. God has created each and every human for a reason and they are uniquely different. It is a search all through your life and once you reach where you have to be, you will know it yourself;  this is what I believe in. There was a time when I did not pray for almost two years. I had to travel to Malaysia then. My flight was delayed and when I reached the Kuala Lumpur Airport, my friends who were there already had started off to the Batu Caves. I was asked to take a cab and meet them there. When I reached with all my luggage, I understood it was the temple of Lord Murugan out there and I simply had to join the friends. I did not want to miss out on visiting the temple, it turned out to be a ‘kavadi’, for me to lift my luggage 300 steps up to the temple and only then pray. I totally believed this “coincidence” to be an act of god. I understood my mistake and realised that only the power of god can direct me towards him, no matter what.Spiritual practicesI pray at home every day. I visit the temple with my family twice a week. My ultimate spiritual practice is to thank god after every completed task, which I think is as important as praying to him.Pilgrimigage sitesI was raised in an orthodox god-fearing family which ensures we enjoy at least one tour a year of a sacred place in and around India. My course in architecture ensured I visited a great deal of pilgrimage sites every semester. I have visited most of the temples in South India, Rajasthan, Delhi and Maharashtra. Some of the sites that have left me awe struck were the Brahadeeshwara temple in Tanjore, Srirangam, Thirupathi, Batu Caves in Malaysia, Bom Jesus Church in Goa, Lotus Temple and much more. Kailash Manasarovar Yatra to Mount Everest, Sanctuary of Apollo phthios in Athens, St.Peter's Cathedral in Vatican City, St.Paul's Cathedral in London are on my priority list to visit!(Rajesh Kanagasabai is an architect who plays the lead role in the soon-to-be released Tamil flick Asthamanam)
