New Delhi: Miss China Zhang Zi Li was crowned the new Miss World 2007 at the beauty pageant held in Sanya, China, on Saturday evening.
Held at the southern holiday island of Hainan, the event was a delight for China as the country won the coveted for the first time.
Second in line to be crowned was Miss Angola, followed by Miss Mexico, who came in third at the pageant.
Miss China Zhang Zi Li bagged the title beating 105 of the world's most beautiful women.
The 23-year-old, six-feet tall Beijing-based secretary said she wanted to use the power and beauty of Miss World to support those in need.
"If I win I want to become a link between the Olympic
Games (to be held in Beijing next year) and the Miss World Organisation," PTI quoted her as saying.
India, meanwhile, had a disappointing run at the pageant, with Miss India Sarah-Jane Dias not making it to the final five.
