KOLLAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Friday visited the families of two fishermen at Pallithottam, missing in the deep sea off Alappuzha coast on Thursday.Chandy reached the house of Bernard alias Babychen at Don Bosco Nagar, near St Stephens Church, Thoppe and the house of Santhosh alias Jose at Century Nagar. He expressed condolences to the bereaved family members.Speaking to media persons, Chandy said that the search for the missing persons had been intensified and the scanner vessel of Indian Navy, INS Surveshak, had started search from 5 p.m. on Friday.He said that the families of the missing fishermen would be given all benefits by the government.Solatium The Chief Minister directed District Collector P G Thomas to prepare a proposal to conduct cochlear surgery on Achu, 3-year-old son of missing fisherman Santhosh, who is hearing impaired. City Police Commissioner Debesh Kumar Nehra, DCC president Kadvoor Sivadasan and KPCC general secretary K C Rajan accompanied the Chief Minister.Meanwhile, the district administration has provided an immediate relief of `5,000 for the family members of the three missing persons. The District Collector said that the families of the deceased fishermen too would be provided solatium by the State Government.
