THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a sharp rejoinder to Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) B S Mavoji, the Kerala University termed as ‘unfortunate’ his allegation that a mafia was operating in the university.In a statement here, the university said that the CEE’s statement on Wednesday was ‘’totally baseless and unfortunate.’’Mavoji’s controversial statement had come in the wake of the University Syndicate deciding to seek his clarification on MCA allotment made to the P A Azeez College of Engineering by the CEE.The college had gone ahead with the admissions before the university issued it an NoC. On Thursday, Mavoji had said he was answerable only to the State Government.He said a mafia was at work at the university to tarnish his character.Meanwhile, reacting to the issue, the Kerala University Staff Union demanded that the CEE’s statement should be investigated. add The Kerala University Employees Union has demanded disciplinary action against the CEE for what it termed ‘’gross breach of discipline.’’ The union has also asked the University Vice-Chancellor to respond on this issue and file a defamation suit against Mavoji. No Classes Today: There will be no classes at the University College of Engineering, Kariavattom, on Friday. Practical exams will be conducted as scheduled. Classes will resume on Saturday. PhD Registration: Full-time PhD registration will be converted to part-time for teachers who have received permanent appointment to aided and affiliated colleges of the Kerala University, higher secondary, high school and UP school. ‘Dam 999’: The controversial movie ‘Dam 999’ was screened at the Engineering College, Thiruvananthapuram, under the aegis of the Kerala University Union. An open forum was also organised, moderated by the University Union chairman. The film’s director Sohan Roy, actor Sreekumar and union secretary S Rahul participated.
