HYDERABAD: CBI raids on the residence of a senior Indian Revenue Service Officer (IRS) unearthed assets worth over Rs 4.56 cr.The searches at the Vijayawada residence of M Anil Kumar, a 1990 batch IRS officer currently working as additional commissioner, Income Tax, Guntur range, led to the seizure of cash, fixed deposit receipts and travellers cheques to the tune of Rs 75.59 lakh besides 6.6 kg gold, 49 kg silver articles and documents pertaining to movable and immovable properties, all worth over Rs 4.56 crore. Anil Kumar is the son-in-law of V Balaram who runs the Telugu weekly Swathi.Prior to the raids, The CBI Visakhapatnam branch had registered a case of disproportionate assets against Anil Kumar charging him with acquiring assets worth crores while working as a public servant during 2000-2007, CBI officials said in a release.
