Objecting to the anticipatory bail petitions filed by the accused in the CBI joint director VV Lakshminarayana call data leakage case, the CID informed the court on Thursday that the main accused, K Raghurama Krishna Raju, failed to appear before it and said there was an ulterior motive to sidetrack Jagan’s assets case which was being investigated by the CBI.
Apart from Raghurama Krishna Raju, BSNL employee K Hanumantha Rao, Ramana Rao and S Narasimha Sastry, who is not named as an accused, also sought anticipatory bail from the metropolitan sessions court.
According to assistant public prosecutor B Yugandhar Rao, Sastry is the personal assistant to accused no 1. His name does not figure in the remand diary of K Venka Reddy, the only one arrested in the case but it was found that he had made 50 to 60 phone calls to Venka Reddy between January 16 and 18.
The prosecution told the court that the accused had fraudulently obtained the call data of the CBI officer. The CID told the court that Raju had failed to appear before it for being questioned and requested the court to dismiss his anticipatory bail petition.
