Bus stand to be set up at East Fort

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A bus stand and commercial complex will be set up at East Fort  to resolve the issue of traffic snarls, said Transport Minister V S Sivakumar.A project prepared by TRIDA in this regard was given sanction at a high-level meeting convened by Industries and Urban Affairs Minister P K Kunhalikutty, the Minister said in a statement here on Thursday.The bus stand and the commercial complex will be set up at the land owned by the Central High School. A building complex at a cost of Rs three crore will also be set up for the school. The traders of Thakaraparambu, who were evacuated for the flyover project would be rehabilitated. The temporary rehabilitation will be on the road near the Central theatre. A discussion will be held with the traders in this regard on December 3, the Minister said.The high-level meeting was attended by Mayor K Chandrika, Corporation Secretary P Bhaskaran, ADM Muhammed Mustafa and KSRTC general manager G Venugopal.
