HYDERABAD: Two gangs of notorious property offenders involved in 37 cases were arrested by Cyberabad police on Wednesday and property worth more than Rs 47 lakh recovered.In the first case, Shaik Abdul Jaffar alias Jaffar was arrested for his involvement in 18 house burglaries in Hyderabad and Cyberabad.Jaffar, a native of Karnataka is staying in Rajendranagar and committing offences since 1998. “He identifies locked houses and flats in isolated places and enters by breaking the locks with iron rods,” Cyberabad police commissioner Ch Dwaraka Tirumala Rao said. Jaffar had been earlier arrested by Saidabad, Hussainialam, Tappachabutra, Amberpet, Malakpet and Saroornagar police and also by Central Central Station sleuths of Balanagar and Rajendranagar.In 2010, he was arrested twice by CCS Balanagar in June and November. Jaffar was released from prison in December 2010 and once again started committing offences.Since his release, he was involved in 18 cases and police recovered half kg gold ornaments and two laptops worth Rs 13.31 lakh Seven nonbailable warrants are pending against the accused.Meanwhile, two vehicle lifters A Srinu alias Khasim and Syed Jakeer, both hailing from Jeedimetla, were arrested and 18 stolen vehicles recovered. Cyberabad CCS police with help of Medak police nabbed the duo who were previously involved in robberies and thefts of iron rods, cylinders from shops and godowns.“They used to sell away the stolen booty as scrap at a lesser price and were arrested several times. They were arrested by Bowenpally police in July and got bail in three days. They started committing automobile thefts in Cyberabad area by using false keys,” the CP said.The duo sell two-wheelers to customers in rural areas for a throwaway price with a promise they would be given documents later. They steal four-wheelers to carry scrap they steal from shops and godowns and later abandon them.Apart from the vehicles, police also recovered four tola gold which the accused snatched from a woman in Dundigal.
