HUBLI: Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa slammed the Congress-led UPA government for sending an advisory to the Karnataka government. It was an act of the Congress to please its leaders in the state, he said.Yeddyurappa told reporters at Hubli Airport on Wednesday that the Centre was left with no choice but to reject the Governor's proposal to impose President's rule. "By issuing an advisory to a democratically elected and majority government, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram has set a new precedent. It is nothing but blackmail," he lashed. The Chief Minister stated that he has yet not gone through the exact content of the advisory, but he would soon reply to the Union Home Ministry. The matter would also be discussed at the party forum, with Central leaders, all NDA chief ministers and at the BJP national executive expected to be held next month."I will meet with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chidambaram and seek explanation on what grounds the Centre sent the advisory and whether there were any similar incidents in the past," he said."Such an advisory could only be sent if there was a serious constitutional crisis or a law and order problem. But in the case of Karnataka, it was issued only to embarrass the BJP government," he fumed. The Centre need not worry about the political allegations levelled against me and the government by the Opposition. Some matters are being heard in the court of the law and others can be decided at a public forum through elections, he cautioned.Since the UPA government itself is embroiled in a series of corruption allegations, it has no moral right to talk about the party or me, he added.Yeddyurappa once again ruled out changing the Speaker and stated that KG Bopaiah would remain for the next two years. Refusing to comment on Operation Lotus, he said the opposition parties forced the BJP to cobble up the numbers. What they did to BJP MLAs was also the same, so they have no moral grounds to criticise the BJP, he added.
