BELLARY: The election scenario in Bellary is all set to hot up in the next few days, with former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, CM DV Sadananda Gowda and some legislators descending on Bellary to campaign for party candidate P Gadilingappa, from November 21.Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of his door-to door campaign at Cowlbazaar, near here on Friday, BJP state president K S Eshwarappa said that Gowda and the former CM would participate in poll campaign in Bellary rural constituency from Monday.He said that BJP legislators, MPs and Cabinet colleagues will come to Bellary from November 20 and would campaign for the party candidate.Bellary legislators B S Anand Singh (Hospet) and Chandra Naik (Hadagali) participated in a party meeting; Nemiraj Naik (H B Halli) and Somalingappa (Siruguppa) are also in touch with me, he said, and hoped that they too would join hands in the campaign. Once they participate in campaign, all other disgruntled leaders would share the dais with them, he said.Minister S Sureshkumar was among those present on the occasion.‘Even entire cabinet cannot match me’Former minister B Sriramulu, who is contesting as an independent candidate, went hit the campaign trail, stopping by at dargahs and temples in the constituency. Sriramulu said: “Even if the entire Cabinet campaigns against me in Bellary, I am sure of a victory. The negative campaign of state BJP and Congress leaders will in no way make an difference.”Adding that people of the constituency are firmly behind him, the former minister claimed that the development undertaken by him during his tenure would help him retain the seat.BJP candidate P Gadhilingappa held a door-to-door campaign seeking votes.Congress candidate B Ramprasad, who too has a sizeable following in the constituency, is leaving no stone unturned in his campaign.MP Anil Lad, MLC K C Kondiah, former KPCC president Allum Veerabhadrappa, among other leaders, are campaigning for their party candidate, Ramprasad.
