CHENNAI: If it’s expressive, eye catching and chic dresses that one is looking for, siblings Divya and Navya Niranjan are the damsels to go to. With a boutique tucked away in their bungalow at Anna Nagar, the duo comes to the rescue of those of us who can’t get enough ultra-chic clothes in our closets. Vanya Mishra (Pantaloon Femina Miss India World 2012) and Rochelle Rao (Pantaloon Femina Miss India International 2012) flaunted the designs of this duo at the pageant. The siblings’ brand, Blueprint Coleccion, which turns one today has recently launched its Spring/Summer line.Divya, a native of Andhra Pradesh, launched the label a year ago in Chennai after giving up a career in the corporate world. A graduate in Corporate Secretaryship who had a stint as a playschool teacher, Divya realised that what she wanted most was to own and operate a business — and her love for fashion took it from there. With her sister's support, Divya began designing custom-made clothes for her near and dear ones. Thus began the journey of Blueprint Coleccion, a brand whose name was finalised after research as the designer duo wanted the label's name to reflect the uniqueness associated with their clothes. “Every design requires a sketch, which is called a blueprint. We thought 'Blueprint' wasn't catchy enough and decided to zing it up. So we added 'Coleccion' which is derived from Spanish, and means collection. The name Blueprint Coleccion felt complete and interesting,” says Divya.Though the designers have been in the fashion field for just a year, they're already popular for their collections that fuse camouflage, technology and old-world traditions. “Our clothes are for those who fancy urban luxury and classic sophistication. I pick up my fabrics from New York to give my ensemble an international standard,” says Divya. The clientele of these designers includes young celebrities who choose to keep it stylish in the limelight. Actor Priya Anand was the cynosure of all eyes as she attended a film event recently, wearing the duo's attire. Not settling for the gimmicks of fancy screen-printing, the duo has often altered proportions of the fabric to give a three-dimensional form to the image portrayed. With multiple printed fabrics put together in one theme, the designers have made a style statement for the young. For example, a geometrical shape-inspired dress featuring two printed fabrics blending in colours gives an ultra-chic finish to the ensemble. The designers have also introduced kurtis that can be worn as short dresses with waist bands. In their latest collection, the duo has adopted a suggestive attitude towards the female form – flirty and bubbly– as its theme. A splash of colours thrown at blocks of fabric and comfortable silhouettes, giving it an international standard, is their spring/summer collection. “In this line, the theme is “Must be love” – so the collection has flirtatious and happy clothes. My girl is young and wants to fall in love, so the clothes are chic and glamorous, yet elegant,” says Divya. She adds that she would love to experiment with designs and produce clothes that involve a lot of innovation. "At present, we're concentrating on wearable clothes but next year, we are planning to showcase a collection of visually appealing outfits which may not be wearable," she says. The siblings are working on expanding their label. They have just returned after showcasing their new collection at Wardrobe Boutique, Coimbatore. What’s next? “We are targeting the Bangalore market and, hopefully, will launch our brand there this year,” they say. And add, "We got a call from Lakme Fashion Week; so very soon, we will go on the ramp too."Clothes at Blueprint Coleccion start from `3,000. The brand designs custom-made ethnic wear.
