UDUPI: Leaders who spoke at the condolence meeting of the late Higher Education Minister V S Acharya stressed the need to set up a memorial for him. The meeting was held at Ammani Ramanna Shetty Hall here on Wednesday morning. Leaders ranging from L K Advani, Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda to K S Eshwarappa paid tribute to Acharya.   Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa lauded Acharya saying that in the last six years, he had handled as many as seven portfolios. “He is the man behind the success of the budgets presented by me. He did not mind working day and night for the preparation of the party’s election manifesto. A monument shall be built in his memory. We will sit discuss what and where in due course,” he said.   BJP national general secretary and MP Ananth Kumar proposed to set up an institute on Financial Development and Parliamentary Affairs in his memory. “Let the institute be set up in Udupi-Manipal, with its administrative office in Bangalore,” the MP suggested.   Gowda broke down yet again while terming Acharya as a great financial expert.         Deputy prime minster L K Advani while condoning the death of V S Acharya said: “Since independence, decline of values is prevalent in all fields. Till yesterday, there were statesmen like Acharya and many leaders developed under him.”
