Kishanganj: Two oil tankers of a goods train caught fire, while two others derailed between Aluabari and Mangurjaan railway stations in Bihar's Kishanganj district on Wednesday. ADG (Railway) SK Bhardwaj said the goods train was on its way to Tatanagar from Rangapara in Assam when the four oil tankers derailed causing two of them to catch fire.
A total 29 oil tankers were detached from the rear of the train and taken to Mangurjan station, while three others from the engine were taken to Aluabari, Bhardwaj said.
Fire tenders were brought from Islampur in West Bengal to douse the flames, he added.
Official sources said fire tenders from Purnia and Kishanganj were also engaged to control the fire.
The exact reason of the derailment was yet to be known, the sources said adding it has affected train services between New Jalpaiguri to Aluabari stations under North Frontier
Railway.
