Purnea: Bihar minister Lessi Singh on Saturday fainted during a protest fast against Land Acquisition Bill and was admitted to the Sadar Hospital in Purnea district.
Civil Surgeon of Purnea SN Jha said Lessi Singh was out of danger, but was still in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). He said the minister fainted because of gastro problems and shooting up of blood pressure due to the fast and has been recommended a week's rest.
Lessi Singh, MLA from Dhamdhaha constituency and the minister for Social Justice and Disaster Management, fainted while observing a protest fast at the headquarters of Dhamdhaha block of Purnea district and was rushed to the hospital.
Bihar JD(U) president Basistha Narayan Singh hailed the minister for taking part in the protest programme despite not being in good health and said the minister was well now.
More than 60,000 JD(U) workers and leaders were observing a protest fast on Staurday across the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar against the Centre's Land Acquisition Bill.
