BANGALORE: The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Standing Committee (Administrative Reforms) on Saturday conducted a surprise inspection at the East zone office and found many irregularities in the welfare schemes.Committee Chairperson H R Krishnappa and others visited the BBMP East zone office on M G Road. Under the welfare schemes during 2010-11, Committee found out that the original tender documents related to issuing driving licences for unemployed youth was missing. Also, there were no proper records of people, who had received the training and driving licences. The East zone office also did not have details of number of applications received under the same scheme. Many applications were reportedly fake. They also found that the caste and income certificates produced by the applicants did not have signatures of gazetted officers. Committee also found that the East zone office had created a community organiser post and had appointed a woman. She was entrusted with executing the work of a zonal welfare officer, which is illegal. Committee chairperson Krishnappa blamed Joint Commissioner (East) Shivashankar and said he will urge Commissioner M K Shankarlinge Gowda to take action against the Joint Commissioner.Further, Committee visited the Forest Department office. They Range forest officer Shivaramiah had not attended office in the past one month, without applying for leave. The Committee locked the office.
