CHENNAI: The India Towheed Jamaath (INTJ) will go ahead with its rath yatra to highlight the injustice meted out to Muslims after the Babri Masjid demolition, despite the fact that permission was not granted, said its national president S M Backar. According to the organisers, the district administration and the Tirunelveli police had denied them permission citing various reasons.“We tried to explain to authorities the purpose of the rally, but they were not convinced. Therefore, the rally will start as per schedule from the scheduled spot,” the leader said.“The purpose of the yatra is to promote communal and social harmony,” he added. A vehicle designed like a miniature model of the Babri Masjid will be part of the yatra. Backar said that they aimed at showcasing the plight of Muslims and expose the injustices meted out to Muslims by religious minority Christians and religious majority Hindus, beyond the lines of caste and religion. The yatra will begin from Melapalayam in Nellai district on November 19 and will culminate at Chennai Central on December 6, passing through 250 places, he said.
