VELLORE: Vellore Collector S Nagarajan flagged off an exhibition in a bus about road safety awareness in the light of the Road Safety Awareness Week from Jan 1 to Jan 7.This is the 23rd awareness week being celebrated by the Tamil Nadu Government Transport Corporation.The inauguration took place near the Gandhi Statue in front of the Vellore Fort. The exhibition has charts and models explaining the do’s and don’ts while driving and other precautionary steps that need to be followed by motorists.Government Transport Corporation Vellore Zonal General Manager, Subramanian, Regional Transport Officer Pon Senthilnadhan and others were present during the inauguration. The bus went through important streets and areas in the city on Sunday. The bus will pass via Gudiyatham, Pernambut and Ambur on Jan 2, Vaniyambadi and Tiruppathur on Jan 3, Arcot, Ranipet, Walajah and Kaveripakkam on Jan 4, Ocheri, Panapakkam on Jan 5, Arakkonam and Nemili on Jan 6 and other schools, bus stands and places of public gathering on Jan 7.A free eye camp for the transport department employees on Wednesday as part of the awareness week celebration and a quiz competition on road safety would be conducted for school children on Thursday and Friday.The valedictory function would be held on Saturday at the Government Transport Office.
