New Delhi: Two suspected Hizbul Mujahideen militants, who were arrested in the city last night, had undergone training in terror camps in Pakistan and had been told to carry out strikes in the National Capital, police sources said on Friday.

They also said that the alleged terrorists hailed from Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir.

Javed Ahmed and Ashiq Ali, who were in their early thirties, were nabbed by a team of Delhi Police' elite anti-terror wing, the Special Cell, from Central Delhi's Daryaganj locality last night.

"Both have accepted links with Pakistan-based terror groups," said a Senior Police Officer shortly before they were produced in court.

Ahmed and Ali, who were in a white Santro car, were intercepted by police at Mahavir Vatika parking area following an intelligence input, the Officer said.

Police said that they recovered two AK-47 rifles, two grenades and four magazines, besides some documents from the militants.

"There have been intelligence inputs about possible terror strikes in the national capital. We were in close coordination with Intelligence agencies which ultimately resulted to the arrest," he added.
