PUDUCHERRY: The police arrested two brothers in connection with the murder of a businessman near Ariyur recently. Sivalingam (40), and his brother Rangasamy (32), were arrested on Thursday in the murder case of Kaliyaperumal, whose body was found with its head crushed in Ariyur on June 24.Senior Superintendent of Police (Law and Order) V J Chandran said the brothers, who sell pork, borrowed Rs 18000 from Kaliyaperumal . When Kaliyaperumal urged them to return the money, the brothers approached him on June 23 at 6 pm and tactfully took him away. They then murdered him after giving him liquor, crushed the head and left the body in an open place in Ariyur.The police started the investigations following a complaint from Vadivel at the Villianur police station. Investigators managed to identify the person as Kaliyaperumal (55), from Thiruvandarkoil Chinna Colony at the Mariamman Koil Street, Villianur. The police said Kaliyaperumal told his wife Muthulakshmi before leaving with the duo. The police team found the two from their hideout at Suramangalam. V J Chandran complemented the police team consisting of K Gunasekaran, N Arumugham, R Muthukumaran, D Senthilkumar, T Felix and Ramesh for having solved the case quickly.
