THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Sai Gramam run by the Sri Sathya Sai Orphanage Trust has received the 8th Amala Award for social service instituted by American Malayali Association of Love and Acceptance (Amala).Sai Gramam was selected from among the 143 nominations received by Amala, based in Miami, Florida.Sai Gramam has received the award for the commendable service it has undertaken to support the underprivileged of the society since its inception in 1996.The award was received on behalf of Sai Gramam by K N Anandakumar, founder and executive director of the Trust, from Union Minister Prof K V Thomas at a function held at Hotel Classic Avenue in the city the other day.The function was presided over by D Babu Paul and was attended by Fr.James Thayyil CMI, Dijo Kappan and Amala award committee coordinator M P Antony, among others.
