CUTTACK: A week after the shocking murder of 19-year-old Sunita Prusty by her cousin Sunil Prusty at Tarachandpatna here, police on Thursday arrested six persons. A mauser pistol, three live cartridges and three motorcycles have been recovered from them. Besides the main accused Sunil, the others have been identified as Shankar Mandal of Telenga Bazaar, Bijan Das of Kanheipur, Hrudananda Das and Debiprasad Das of Bidyadharpur and Siddharth Pursty of Chauliaganj, DCP Praveen Kumar told mediapersons here on Thursday. According to police, Sunil had shot his cousin Sunita at her house in Tarachandpatna under Purighat police limits on October 11 night. The crime was a fallout of a fierce land dispute among his father Hrushikesh and uncles Digambar and Gadadhar. Sunita was the daughter of Digambar. Sunil and his friends armed with weapons locked the houses of the tenants while looking for Digambar, who was away at his shop at the time. When Sunita came out and tried to desist Sunil, he shot at her point blank. She was rushed to SCB Medical, where she was declared dead. The miscreants had fled away and been absconding since. An intense search launched by police led to arrest of all from different places, police said.
