In a major turn-around, Air India is restarting all its flights to the gulf sector. Air India Express operations are also scheduled to be revived from the 29th of this month, according to an Air India official at the Kochi airport.
The Union Government has also decided to hire aircrafts from private operators to make up for the cancellations of flights from Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode. The hired aircrafts will be used for hajj operations, while Air India owned flights may be put back into gulf operations.
The additional aircraft will also be put into operation to the gulf sector as they foresee a rush in the period between October and November, the official added.
All passengers who have booked on Air India flights to the gulf sector from September 29, as well as Express flights, will have to contact the AI offices for necessary confirmations.
