New Delhi: Two baggage assistants of Air India were apprehended while they were allegedly trying to steal laptops and mobile-phones inside the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) said on Friday.

The two AI staff have been identified as Deepak Nangia and Abhimanyu, a CISF officer said, adding that one laptop and three mobile-phones were recovered from the duo in separate cases.

While Nangia was handed over to police on February 14, Abhimanyu was intercepted and later handed over to Delhi Police on February 15.

"Both were intercepted when they were exiting the Terminal 3 of the IGI. The police is probing whether the laptops and other valuable were stolen from the baggage of passengers," a CISF officer said.

In yet another case, CISF troops today found a bag lying at Dwarka Sector-21 station of the Airport Metro which contained more than Rs 2 lakh in cash, a Blackberry mobile-phone and an iPod.

"The owner of the bag was contacted and he was handed over his belongings after proper verification," the officer said.

In a similar case last month, a CISF constable had displayed similar honesty and returned a bag containing Rs 50,000 to a passenger who had forgotten it at the airport.

"The passenger recently wrote to the CISF chief expressing his gratitude and praise for our boy who works with the intelligence unit at the Delhi airport," he said.

All these CISF troops have been recommended for reward by CISF Director General Rajiv.

Meanwhile, the CISF Director General today took stock of security preparedness of the Delhi Metro and other CISF units deployed in Jammu and Kashmir and naxal-affected areas in Chhattisgarh for guarding vital installations.
