Mumbai University has failed to keep up its promise of delivering results on two different deadlines given by the Governor – July 31st and August 5th. Still over two Lakh answer sheets are waiting assessment. Mumbai University results have been delayed beyond repair as over out of 477 courses, results of 212 exams are still awaited.
However, in an attempt to give assurance to the students that the test results will be accurate, Mumbai University will be providing photocopies of the answer sheets and also give option for re-evaluation at half the price prevalent earlier. The fee charged for re-evaluation used to be Rs 500 which will now be Rs 250, and the fee for photocopies of answer booklets used to be Rs 100 that has been reduced to Rs 50 for Mumbai University Results 2017.
As per the university, the 50 percent cut in fee is due to lower cost of photocopying and re-valuation under the new On Screen Marking (OSM) system.
"Due to onscreen assessment, the university will no longer have to separately spend on photocopying of answer sheets. Scanned copies will be sent to colleges for evaluation, instead of having evaluators visiting centralised assessment process (CAP) centres to assess physical copies," read a statement released by Mumbai University.
Another interesting part is that the photocopies of answer booklets would be in digital format and will be sent via email to the candidates who'll apply for the same.
Meanwhile, over four lakh students who had appeared in the Mumbai University Exams 2017 have no option but to push the pause button on their careers as of now. Most of the Varsities require final exam results to give admissions to new entrants for pursuing further education, same is the case with corporate or any other employers as the final-year marksheet is considered the proof of academic qualification of any candidate.
The Director of Examination, Mumbai University stated that they are in talks with teachers of 53 colleges to dedicate 6-7 hours/day to expedite the whole process. MU has proposed double remuneration for teachers to check the answer booklets speedily.
