The AP State Council for Higher Education informed the High Court on Friday that a notification for admissions based on the EAMCET-2012 would be issued on August 20. The process of allotting the seats after verification of certificates and considering the options of students is expected to be completed by Sep 12. Classes will begin on Sep 17. The council made this commitment before justice CV Nagarjuna Reddy who was hearing two separate writs one filed by a student complaining of delay in the admission process and the other by private college managements challenging the government’s proposal to fix a uniform fee at ` 35,000 per student per annum. Explaining the sequence of events that took place since the conduct of EAMCET, the higher education council told the court that the delay was neither intentional nor wanton. Apart from other reasons the AFRC (Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee) was engaged for more than a month receiving reports from expert bodies and representations from individual colleges on the quantum of fee to be fixed for the current academic year. According to the submissions made before the court, the AFRC will formally send its recommendations on fee structure to the government on Saturday. The committee, which met on Friday to arrive at a decision, decided to meet again on Saturday morning to fix the fee and send its recommendation.
