HYDERABAD: The drunken brawl case involving Tollywood actor Navdeep has triggered a jurisdictional row between the Hyderabad and Cyberabad police with the Madhapur (Cyberabad) police and Jubilee Hills (Hyderabad) police refusing to take up the case.An inebriated Navdeep allegedly thrashed engineering students in Jubilee Hills police limits after the students had allegedly passed comments on his girl friend at Excess Club in Novotel Hotel in Madhapur. The jurisdiction row over registering the case erupted with the Cyberabad police trying to transfer the case to Jubilee Hills. K Govardhan Reddy, assistant commissioner of police, Madhapur wrote a letter to Banjara Hills division ACP Shanker Reddy transferring the case to Jubilee Hills police. But the Jubilee Hills police refused to take up the case citing that Navdeep beat up the students at a showroom near Kavuri Hills which falls in the Jubilee Hills police limits. It is learnt that the Madhapur police are receiving numerous phone calls from influential persons who are trying to bring pressure on police to settle the issue quickly. These callers are mediating on behalf of both the parties _ the actor and the students. The Madhapur police are, therefore, said to be trying to wash their hands of the case and transfer it to Jubilee Hills. The Madhapur ACP said it was a small issue and the case was being transferred to the Jubilee Hills police station since the actor allegedly manhandled the students in the Jubilee Hills police station limits. If police officials want to transfer the case from one police station of a certain commissionerate to another police station of other police commissionerate, the commissioners of police have the right to act.
