KOZHIKODE: CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has said that ACP Radhakrishna Pillai had received no orders from the Executive Magistrate to use his firearm against the students. He was inaugurating the indefinite blockade and strike at the Government Engineering College Calicut by the DYFI and SFI to protest against the police firing. He also said that there is government pressure on the Executive Magistrate to submit a favourable report to the District Collector.Pinarayi added that a judicial inquiry should be conducted into the firing and Radhakrishna Pillai should be suspended until the inquiry is completed. The party supremo also visited the injured activists admitted to the Medical College Hospital, after the inaugural function. Hundreds of activists gathered for the indefinite blockade and strike in front of the Government Engineering College, West Hill on Tuesday. Grand preparations have been made for these protesters. The road to the college has been blocked by the activists and a pavilion has been put up on the road. A large section of the protesters were shouting slogans and singing party songs the whole day. The party has also made arrangements to provide food for the activists on the college premises.While the indefinite strike and blockade has brought in bad times for the shop owners and residents in the area as free movement through the roads is not possible.
