A senior fire department official said initial probe suggested that the fire was caused due to cylinder explosion, but they were investigating other angles, too.
At least six people died and seven sustained critical injuries in a massive fire that broke out in a hotel close to the Patna Railway Station on Thursday.
According to Krishna Murari, DSP (law and order) says, “Five to six people have died. More than 30 people have been rescued. Seven are seriously injured and have been sent to hospital.”
DIG (Fire), Mrityunjay Kumar Chaudhary, who had rushed to the spot, told reporters, “We have brought the blaze, about which information was received around 11 am, under control. The cause will be ascertained through a proper investigation, and appropriate action will follow”.

Another fire department official said, “We are conducting regular fire audits and our special focus is on such crowded areas. We are constantly raising public awareness to prevent such incidents. Prima facie it happened due to a cylinder blast. The fire has been extinguished.”
