Madhavaram Milk Farm, Periya Mathur, Manjambakkam and Kosappurn were the areas that came under scanner.The team seized the submersible suction water pumps from a few points while a few managed to decamp their property before the officials arrived.Subsequently, five persons, identified as Mohan, (48), Periyasamy, (45), Arul, (25), Manoharan, (48), and Sriram  (48),  were arrested by MM Colony police inspector Kasiappan.Police said that the arrested owned lands and were engaged in farming as well. They had been into the water trade as the returns were high. A case under provisions of Tamil Nadu Property (Prevention of Damage and Loss) Act, 1992 was also registered.During the crackdown, police had caught a container lorry while it was filled with the ground water.
