Noida (Uttar Pradesh): Three persons, including a policeman, were injured on Monday night when a gunbattle broke out between a gang of criminals and police in Noida, the satellite town of the national Capital.
The gunbattle began at 20:25 hrs IST near Hosiery Complex in Phase-II after a scuffle between the alleged criminals, numbering four to five, and a guard of a factory, a senior police official said.
The scuffle broke out when the criminals asked for the keys of the factory and were rejected, the official said.
As the scuffle continued, the official said, police reached the spot and seeing them, the criminals - who were in a Maruti Esteem - opened fire at them.
The police also retaliated and two of them were injured. One policeman also suffered injuries in the incident.
The car had a UP registration number and bore a Press sticker on it. Police claim that the two could have been robbers although the identity of the victims are not confirmed yet.
A nine mm carbine and a 38 mm pistol was reportedly recovered from the car.
